The P-Trak Ultrafine Particle Counter (UPC) Model 8525 from TSI is ideal for detecting ultrafine particle levels in the workplace and helping to eliminate indoor air quality (IAQ) problems. This portable instrument detects and counts ultrafine particles (less than 1 micron), which often reflect or signal the presence of contaminants that are the root cause of complaints.

Ultrafine particles are defined as particles with a particle size of 0.1 μm (or 100 nm). Engineered nanoparticles (nanomaterials) are a subset of ultrafine particles with a particle size of 1 to 100 nm. Nanomaterials are produced and used in industrial and high-tech applications, while ultrafine particles are by-products of combustion and other chemical reactions. However, the occupational health risks associated with the use or manufacture of nanomaterials have not been clearly identified. As a result, there is an emerging need to assess workplace conditions. P-Trak utilizes TSI's proven technology to directly provide real-time detection of ultrafine particle levels in the workplace.
