The Automatic Filter Tester 3160 is the most advanced automatic tester for testing filter media and filter media using submicron aerosols. It can be used to simultaneously test low and high efficiency filters and filter media with efficiencies up to 99.999999% (8 9s) or penetration as low as 0.000001%. The 3160 uses a series of atomizers and a TSI electrostatic classifier to test filter media or filter media of known monodisperse particle size. Two Condensation Particle Counters (CPC) count particles simultaneously upstream and downstream, and computer software calculates the penetration value. The filter is sequentially tested with up to 20 different monodisperse particles ranging from 15 to 800nm. The penetration of each particle size is calculated. At the end of the test, the 3160 generates a penetration vs. particle size curve and then a summary of the test results, including the Most Penetrating Particle Size (MPPS).
Test results can be automatically saved to a Microsoft Access database and downloaded to Microsoft Excel.
