The Small Scale Powder Diffuser* 3433 (SSPD) generates small amounts of powder by lifting particles from a turntable using a venturi attractor. The carousel rotates at variable speeds to control aerosol concentration, and the shear forces developed in the SSPD are sufficient to break down most dry particles in the 0.5 to 50 μm particle size range.

Optional carousel options are available to meet specific needs. Because the SSPD disperses only a small amount of sample, it is particularly well suited for studies involving rare, valuable, or hazardous materials. It also effectively disperses polystyrene latex (PSL) spheres used to calibrate measuring instruments. It is used with our Aerodynamic Particle Sizer? (APS?) for particle size distribution measurements of dry powders.
