The Small Scale Powder Diffuser* 3433 (SSPD) produces small quantities of powders by lifting particles from a rotating disk using a venturi aspirator. The disk rotates at variable speeds to control aerosol concentration. The shear forces developed in the SSPD are sufficient to break up most dry particles in the 0.5 to 50 μm size range.
Optional turntable options are available to meet special needs. Because the SSPD disperses only small amounts of sample, it is particularly useful for research involving rare, valuable, or hazardous materials. It also effectively disperses polystyrene latex (PSL) spheres used to calibrate measurement instruments. Used in conjunction with our Aerodynamic Particle Sizer? (APS?) particle size spectrometer for particle size distribution measurements of dry powders.
