The Monodisperse Droplet Generator MDG100 generates a stream of uniformly sized droplets ranging from 50 μm to 300 μm. It is based on the principle of applying a constant periodic excitation to a laminar liquid jet, which causes surface waves to form and grow as the jet slows down. Thus, each surface wave cycle that occurs resolves into a single droplet. This is an established technique for generating single sized droplets, which is often used in basic droplet studies such as evaporation, combustion, suspension and surface interactions. It is also used for characterization and calibration checks of various types of instruments.
