GE Analytical Instruments is a leader in total organic carbon analysis instruments. The company's first total organic carbon analyzer, the Model 800, was originally developed for NASA to monitor drinking water for astronauts on the International Space Station. After its introduction into commercial production, the Sievers Model 800 quickly gained wide acclaim due to its superior accuracy and ease of use, becoming the best-selling total organic carbon analyzer in the pharmaceutical industry and a leader in microelectronics applications. The next generation of the Sievers Model 800, the Sievers 900 series, was launched in 2004. The Sievers 900 series has three specific-purpose models with improved automation and reliability.

Sievers Membrane Conductivity Detection - Unsurpassed TOC Detection:

Sievers Membrane Conductivity Detection has proven to be an extremely reliable technique for the determination of Total Organic Carbon (TOC). Unlike instruments using Non-Dispersive Infrared (NDIR) detection, conductivity detection exhibits a dynamic range of six orders of magnitude and extremely stable calibration that is not susceptible to significant fluctuations over time. This reduces the frequency of calibration without sacrificing analytical performance. Patented membrane conductivity detection technology uses a gas permeable membrane that selectively transmits only CO2 generated by the oxidation of organic matter. By preventing interference from oxidative CO2 measurements by, for example, acids, bases and halogenated compounds, the membrane conductivity method achieves unmatched sensitivity, selectivity, stability, accuracy and precision.

Sievers Membrane Conductivity Detection Method - Unsurpassed TOC Detection

     6. Extended 12-month calibration stability. GE's patented Sievers membrane conductivity TOC detection technology features a conductivity sensor that is not prone to drift and fluctuation. Excellent calibration stability is achieved. It is recommended that calibration be done only once a year and is easy to perform on site. In contrast, TOC analyzers using NDIR detection methods often require weekly or even daily calibration.
    7. Reliability. A team of scientists and engineers from GE Analytical Instruments designed the 900 series using advanced materials and modular components to extend operating life and make it easier to operate on site. Achieve higher reliability with maximum uptime. The carbon dioxide selective permeable membrane dedicated to the detector does not need to be replaced throughout the life of the instrument!
     8. Excellent performance over a wide analytical range. The 900 series has excellent accuracy and precision over a dynamic range of 0.03 ppb-50 ppm. From ultrapure water to drinking water and industrial process water, the analyzer provides excellent analytical performance for a variety of applications and different water quality types.
     9. High analytical throughput and efficiency. The 900 series minimizes operator manual involvement to achieve high automation and high analysis speed.
Automated operations include calibration, validation and data analysis reports, combined with a 4-minute analysis time to achieve high measurement throughput. During diagnosis, the analyzer generates TOC data a few minutes after connecting the sampling tube. The [Autoreagent] function automatically sets the optimal flow rate for each sample, eliminating the need for user intervention and data interpretation to select the appropriate flow rate.
     10. Online and aspirated samples. For online and portable analyzers, the patented integrated online sampling system (iOS) simplifies the aspiration of external standards and samples. The operator does not need to remove the instrument from the continuous sample source or change the structure of the sample injection. The iOS system even includes the aspiration function for spot checking TOC samples from other locations in the water system.
